[It's been four days since Silver's talked to anyone he knows, and four days is a little too much for him to be alone.

He's scared, he's tired- but if he goes to Ludger's, he risks having his case worker come over, and if he goes to Blue's, he'll have to explain the terrible terrible thing that's happened.

He flips open his phone and texts Mimi.]

Could I come over to your place for a little bit?

[ Her phone has to go off now of all times, while she's enjoying a nice, relaxing soak?! Well, it would be just her luck -- and it's only Silver. She stares at the text, thinking, and sighs.

Whatever. She's done. Too long and she'll get all pruny. ]

Sure. [ Hotaru's out too, so it's a good time as any to have some company. She texts him Her address and.. There's nothing to do but get dressed and wait for him to get here. ]

[It takes him a while to get on the train and head over to Mimi's place, and even once he's over, he takes a full minute of looking around cautiously before he actually enters her apartment building and heads to knock on her door.]

[ She answers immediately; she'd been waiting after all. Her hair's up to keep it from getting her shirt all damp, and she's in something... Pretty sloppy, considering her usual outfits. Welp, come on in Silver; it's not as fancy as Ludger's, but it's good enough for two students who can sometimes accommodate a third. ]

What's up?

[He pulls off his hood- it's safe around Mimi's place, it's not cold, he doesn't need his hood anymore- and it's pretty easy to tell he's shaken up. He's got huge dark circles under his eyes, and his face is still white as a sheet, despite his best efforts to try to calm down and come to terms with what happened.

He's never going to be able to come to terms with it. He needs to get a better handle on what he's doing, and he needs to do it fast.

Can one kid really take down all of that?

Even if he can't, he has to.

He notices his eyes are wandering. He also realizes that he hasn't answered Mimi yet.]

Could I take a nap on your couch? Just for a couple of hours. [If- if he's here, he's safe. He can sleep safely.]

[ ...Something really isn't right. She wants to grill him, but looking that way -- she places a hand on his shoulder and steers him towards it, lips tight. ]

Go ahead. [ Mimi'll go grab him a fresh blanket too and one of her pillows. Here buddy. ] We can talk when you wake up.

[He nods, heads inside, and quickly settles on the couch. Sure. They can talk later. Maybe. Or maybe he'll just slide out. But he's not here to argue.

Skitty slides out of his pocket and settles down next to him; he's out in a matter of minutes. Of course, a couple of hours is how long he intended to sleep, but his body is exhausted and the fact that he's finally resting somewhere that feels safe is enough to keep him out for much longer.]

[ He can sleep; he seems like he needs it.

Her flatmate comes back and gives him a look, whispers that she's going for younger and younger men these days and laughing softly when Mimi socks her in the arm, but she'll be gone by the time Mimi shakes Silver awake. It's just because she's got dinner finished and it'd be a shame if he missed it. ]

Hey. Time to eat. [ Tonight's tsukune chicken, and smells great. Well, she thinks it does, and she's sure Hotaru would say the same if she wasn't out with her boyfriend in Akiba... ] Come on.

[He starts waking up slowly right until the smell of something delicious and savory hits his nose, at which point he immediately pulls himself into an upright position.

Is that for him?

That's for him.

He tries not to eat it too quickly.]

[ Yeesh, he's going to choke on it if he inhales it like that. She smacks his hand with a frown, waving her chopsticks at him. ]

Savor it! It's my best attempt yet. Besides, you'll get sick if you eat too fast. Slow down.

[Slowly. Right. Okay. He can make a deliberate and conscious effort to slow down, but he's still eating pretty quickly nonetheless.]

It's really good. [That's all he can manage to get out between bites.]

Of course it is. [ She's so pleased. Smile and everything. ] Japanese food is my specialty.

[ Unlike SOME PEOPLE SHE COULD MENTION. What a bad Japanese person. Terrible.

She'll wait till he's almost done to get his attention with a quick throat clear and raised eyebrows. ]

So. Wanna tell me why you looked like crap when I let you in? And like you hadn't slept in a few days? And about a hundred other things I'm sure I don't gotta mention?

[...She deserves to know.]

No. [But she asked if he wanted to, and he definitely doesn't want to. He puts his finished plate aside and hugs his knees.]

Too bad. [ She'll pick it up along with hers and head to give them a quick wash --

you better still be there when she gets back. She's gonna get answers and look very expectant about them. ]

[Fortunately for Mimi, he is way too tired to run. Really, he'd love to just get back to sleep...

But Mimi's not going to let him until he talks, and he's not going to talk. So sleep's out. He stares at her quietly- if it comes down to stubbornness, he can probably win...]

[ Is he seriously -- ]

You wanted to come over, Silver. [ Her house her rules. She sets her hands on her hips, worrying her lip a little. Her other attempts at talking with him never went too spectacularly, and she doesn't have that high of hopes for this time either, but... ] Tell me what's up. Friends do that with each other.

[...She's not going to give it up. Maybe if he makes the briefest and most startling statement, she'll let it go.]

My dad's a terrible and evil man.

[Is that good enough?]

[ That is a doozy. Mimi purses her lips, but she'll head over to him and sit on the table beside him. A gentle pat for his head, but her hand lingers to play with his hair. ]

I'm sorry.

[ She'd been happy about his dad thing - as weird as it had sounded at the time - but evidently that's gone down the drain. She doesn't know what else to say, so she just plays with his hair, musing about it -- there's no way he's going to tell her more without prompting (or forcing)... She turns "playing with his hair" into" gently massaging his scalp," wishing - for once - Ludger was here. He seemed to handle this kind of thing with a hell of a lot more tact that she does. ]

Tell me what happened.

[It feels nice to have his hair played with. Really nice. Too bad it would be too strange to ask if she could do that more often.]

He brought me to his home and showed me a special room full of products from poached animals.

[ That's horrible. Mimi only stops for a few seconds at the news; and then, realizing he probably really needs it, returns to her massaging. She makes a soft sound in the back of her throat, thinking of how to navigate this, and decides to lean over and hug him instead.

A terrible and evil man... but Silver's turned out pretty good. She should thank that sister of his when she meets her. He's old enough to make his own decisions, and he'll probably agree with her, but she squeezes him tighter and rubs his back. She's commanding in tone, but there's a softness there, too. ] You're not allowed to stay there.

[ And then, less commanding: ] If you want to stay here, I can talk to Hotaru. She didn't really have too much of an issue when we had Penny over, language barriers aside, and you two'd probably get along pretty well.

[ Ludger's still probably a better place, since he does live practically alone - Julius being out and all - but he's here now. He can stay if he wants, even for a little while. ]

I'm not going back until I'm strong enough to destroy everything he stands for. I've got magic now. I can do that.

[He can't do it alone, he can't do it now, but he can do it.]

I have to do it.

[Despite the resolve in his words, he still feels small and vulnerable and leans very easily into Mimi's hug. It's nice. It's like getting hugged by big sis, but it's a little different...]

I shouldn't stay here. I'm supposed to be staying with Ludger right now. [But he's been bad and running away and doing his own thing, and he has no one to blame but himself for the trouble he's found himself in.]

Ludger might've mentioned something like that when he called earlier.

[ She'd felt bad letting him know she hadn't seen him -- oh. She should've told him he came over while Silver was asleep.

She'll get to it.

Mimi lets the hug go on for a little longer, then leans away with her hands set on his shoulders. She's gonna look him right in the eye. ]

Just because he's your dad doesn't mean you have to. [ Especially since the Bondless can't afford to have any actual fights between them -- real fights, not the practice ones they'd done. The thought of fighting each other makes her stomach clench and she grips his shoulders tighter. ] Call the police if you really want to do something, but you're not going to fight him. Especially if he knows what he's doing, like you said.

[Ludger called, huh? He really should head back...

Tomorrow. He'll return tomorrow.]

He said he did it because of me. Because I was kidnapped. It's my fault, and I have to be the one to stop it and prove him wrong, or it won't mean anything.

The police are too stupid to do anything.

It's not gonna mean anything anyway if you try and fail or -- or something worse. [ She sighs, letting go of him. She has to find her phone; she'll just text Ludger so he can stop being such a worrywart. ] And then what? If it's "something worse," what the hell do you think's gonna happen?

[ She's not saying his dad might try to kill him, especially if he went through all that trouble, but -- she finds her phone in her bag and bites her lip, scrolling through her contacts. Ludger, Ludger -- there. ]

It could've been a good enough excuse to start. I mean, how's poaching going to help you find your lost son? [ There's probably more to it - or definitely more to it - but she's busy texting his technical official guardian where he is. Don't worry, she adds as an after thought. ] And by the sounds of it, he doesn't have any plans to stop even though he has found you, so --

[ She drops off there, not really sure how to finish that, but. Yeah. ]

He says it gives him money and power "so he won't lose anything important to him again". He's not wrong, either. He's got a small army of goons following him and his money around wherever he goes.

[He tenses up when Mimi pulls out her phone but doesn't say anything about it. Who is he to get nosy about who she's texting? Just take it easy.]

I want to get strong enough to destroy him and his business. I want to prove him wrong. I want to do it for all the lives of animals he's taken for the sake of lining his pockets.

If I can't even try and do that, I'm better off dead.
